CDS carried out the initial feasibility study, assessing the demographics of the region and identifying the optimal site for a crematoria. Once a site had been selected, CDS carried out a detailed need assessment report which identifies through detailed drive time analysis and statistical assessment the likely cremation numbers for the identified parcel of land. A financial model was then created to assess the feasibility of the development, including profit projections and running costs.

Once a suitable site was found, which had been proven to meet the strict ‘need’ criteria for any proposed crematorium development, CDS were instructed to undertake all aspects of the planning submission for the proposed development, which included air quality assessments, ecological appraisal, archaeological investigation, highways assessment and many other detailed reports required for a large scale construction project.

CDS also developed the design and layout drawings for the Crematorium, landscaping, drainage, road layout and the proposed cemetery area. Working closely with our design partners, concept drawings for the new crematoria were designed by theArchitects for the project following design brief meetings with the client to ensure that their requirements were fully understood.

Planning permission was given for the development of the site in 2019, CDS have since undertaken the detailed design works and specification documents for the development.
